Summer 2013 – Trip Overview
In
the Summer of 2013 we did our second big group trip to Haiti – there were 13 of
us total, including my entire family.
This was my fifth trip and Bethany’s third, but the first for Amy and
our other two daughters, Ashtyn and Madison.
This
team’s focus of activities was very similar to last year’s summer team, but we
were able to build on what we had learned the first time around in 2012. Over the course of the week the team again conducted
a series of ministry efforts, including:
- Teaching bible classes and
leading worship at the Delmas 28 Church of Christ in Port-au-Prince
- Working with the 80+ children at two
Christian orphanages
- Conducting a “Mini-VBS” for approx.
800 children from the cities of Port-au-Prince, Cazeau, and Cite Soleil, and
the mountain villages of Hinche, Robert, Brajirois, Saintard, Dubuisson,
Mirebalais, Pageste, & Thomazeau
- Conducting an evangelistic
outreach program for adults in those same cities and villages
- Conducting food and clothing
distribution programs in all of those areas
