PROJECTS

Completed Ministry Projects

PREACHER TRAINING:  Establishment of Delmas Christian University, housed in the Delmas 28 Church of Christ in Port-au-Prince.  DCU is now fully accredited by the Haitian Ministry of Education to grant four-year baccalaureate degrees in Ministry, Theology, and Biblical Studies.  We have already graduated a total of 87 students, and have 50+ students currently enrolled.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:  Construction of a new school building for a church-based elementary school in the village of St. Michel, a remote area way up in the mountains of northwestern Haiti.  This school is a ministry of the St. Michel Church of Christ, and now serves approximately 400 children, kindergarten through 6th grade.

SAFE WATER:  Drilling of a well in Bout Savanne, another remote mountain village where many people had been dying due to lack of a safe water supply.  This well was drilled on the property where a new Church of Christ was established in 2014.

ORPHAN CARE:  Purchase of land and construction of new housing faciliies for a newly established orphanage in the village of St. Michel (see “Christian Education” section above).  This orphanage was started in early 2015 by the minister of the St. Michel Church of Christ and his wife, who saw a tremendous need in their community and began feeding, housing, and caring for 36 orphaned children – doing so initially with no outside support or assistance.

DISASTER RELIEF:  Working through the Churches of Christ in Haiti to reconstruct dozens of churches and school buildings that were damaged or destroyed by various natural disasters, including Hurricane Matthew in October 2016; the 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Haiti in October 2018; the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti’s southern peninsula in August 2021; and various other earthquakes, hurricanes, and tropical storms.

Current and Ongoing Ministry Projects

EVANGELISM AND CHURCH GROWTH:  Conducting regional Preachers’ Training Conferences and various evangelistic outreach activities for Churches of Christ throughout Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

ORPHAN CARE:  Providing food for the children at the St. Michel Orphanage (see “Completed Projects” section above).  To find out more about the St. Michel Orphanage and how you can help, click on the button below:

Urgent - But Unfunded - Needs

THE MOST URGENT – BUT CURRENTLY UNFUNDED – NEEDS:  We’re excited to report that as of August, 2022 we’ve completed the construction of new housing facilities for the children at the St. Michel Orphanage, on a piece of property purchased by The Haiti Fund in 2017.  Thanks to the gracious generosity of our donors, we also had enough additional funds left over to purchase new beds, mattresses, and linens for all the children.

Thanks to those of you who’ve continued helping out financially with various orphan care needs, we also had enough funding in place to complete the next-most-urgent set of projects in 2023, which included building latrine and shower facilities; improvements to the kitchen facilities; repairs to the security wall surrounding the orphanage property; and the purchase and installation of a solar panel, a double battery pack, and the necessary equipment to run electricity throughout the compound.

If we have the necessary funding in place, we hope also to be able to complete other essential items during 2024.
