Report from JT – October 2014
(For those of you not familiar, “JT” is Jeantyrard Elmera, the Haitian evangelist we’ve been working closely with since 2011)
JT just sent out an annual report that he does in October of each year – here are a few short excerpts:
- “The Haiti Fund’s Summer Team visited St. Michel this past July – at the gospel meeting revival they conducted over 1200 people attended, with a total of 28 Baptisms.”
- Preacher’s Training School: “Since the Churches of Christ have now become the fastest growing church in Haiti, there is a need for qualified preachers and workers. In January 2014 we started a new Preacher’s Training School with three degree options: Theology, Biblical Studies, and Practical Ministry. We are developing the next generation of preachers in Haiti. We currently have 30 students; some of them are already full time ministers of the gospel, and the rest are training to be. We have six good professors, plus visiting teachers from the U.S. who teach periodic short courses. The course offerings so far have included New Testament Survey, Old Testament Survey, Homiletics, Speech Communication, New Testament Greek, and New Testament Theology. We are thankful to God for this great school.”
- “We are thankful for the community of Carissade, as the church there has grown from 30 members to now over 300 members in the past year.”
- “At the Delmas 28 Church we have had 396 baptisms in the last year, and our mission efforts in Haiti and the Dominican Republic help support 220 other Churches of Christ in more than 250 different communities.”
