Our Hurricane Recovery Efforts at Bout Savane – Before and After Photos
The first photo above I took in February, 2017 of the church building in Bout Savane, Haiti (where we drilled the well) – their little “lean to” structure, not much to begin, was further damaged by tornado spinoff from Hurricane Matthew the previous October. As you can see, it was pretty unstable at this point – what you probably can’t see (without enlarging the image) is that, over to the left, there’s actually two groups of elementary students who were having to use this as classroom space. We had serious concerns that one strong puff of wind could bring the whole thing down on the children who were meeting there on a daily basis.
The second photo I took in August, 2017 – from almost the exact same spot – of the just-then-finished new church building, built by the Haitians, using materials purchased by The Haiti Fund with a portion of what many of you donated toward Hurricane Relief last fall – this is the first time these Christians have had an actual building to meet in since the church was started.
