I’m sure many of you remember the Haitian proverb “Beyond the mountains, more mountains” – which in Creole is “Dye mòn, gen mòn” – I was totally blown away one day when I met Russell Ward, former Haiti Team member, for lunch – I told him I had to take pictures (no matter how weird the people in the restaurant think I am) – check out Russell’s tattoos (photo above).
Ok, I have a whole new level of respect for Russell – that’s pretty hard core.
Seriously – and I know not all of you can relate to this, but I also know that many of you can – it hit me once again the profound effect that Haiti has had on many of us – even if you’ve only been one time, or two times like Russell, for many of us there’s something about the experience of Haiti that gets inside you, and stays with you, and somehow becomes part of who you are…and it never really goes away.
