Things Have Gotten A Little Weird

Well, things have gotten a little weird since the middle of March.

Obviously, the primary mission and focus of The Haiti Fund is on serving in Haiti.  At the same time, though, we have always felt compelled to do whatever we can to also address significant, urgent needs right here closer to home – which has led us to be directly involved in things like tornado relief (Tuscaloosa, Opelika); hurricane relief (New Orleans, Panama City); etc.

This is a very different and unusual situation, but I think it definitely qualifies as a natural (and national) disaster.

Many of us who have been to Haiti together feel a special and unique bond with each other, a sense of family – I know I certainly feel that way with each of you.  So in this very, very weird time, let’s all do the thing you guys do best:  Take care of each other.

I woke up at 1:30 this morning thinking about Hebrews 10:24:  “Let us consider how we may spur one another on* toward love and good works.”  To that end, I want to offer three specific things:

  1. If there’s anything you’d like this team to be praying for, feel free to email me any prayer requests you have.
  1. If you are one of the many people being impacted by this – physically or economically – and have any needs that you’re comfortable sharing with me (confidentially, unless you instruct otherwise), I will do my dead level best to help you address those needs in one way or another – if not directly, then at the very least by connecting you with key resources.
  1. If you know of someone else who we – as a team, individually or collectively – might be able to minister to in some kind of meaningful way, please feel free to share that also (with their permission, obviously) – we might not be able to address all the needs out there, but I’m confident we’ll all do our best to address as many as we can.

I’m reminded once again how incredibly blessed I’ve been to know each of you, and to have served with each of you.

Love and Prayers,

Greg

* KJV = “provoke one another”, which I’ve always liked (thanks, Tim Thigpen!)
