From JT – Crises in Haiti, Baptisms, Preachers’ Training School

Preaching the good news in the midst of chaos in Haiti…

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to start by saying a few words from the book of Nahum 1:7: “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble; He cares for those who trust in him.”

Over the last few months Haiti has seen the worst regarding violence, kidnapping, political corruption, dreadful diseases, and gang activities. When we take a look at what’s going in Haiti we see death everywhere caused by Corona Virus, we see raging kidnapping, we see gang violence, we see sickness, hunger, and nightmares etc. Without a certain sense of God’s providence or assurance there is no way we could survive.

In the midst of all that, God is good. God’s goodness gives us assurance, and courage to continue preaching the gospel. So far in 2021 we have baptized 55 new souls into Christ, and have also been blessed with the opportunity to visit and strengthen a church we started not long ago where 65 people were baptized at the end of 2020.

The school of preaching is another expression of God’s goodness. In the midst of all the chaos in Port-au-Prince, the students (about 49) continue religiously to attend their program of studies, and the staff courageously sacrifice their time to offer graciously their knowledge to the students. We are working diligently to stay on track, in order to graduate the students this coming December. Please pray for this great endeavor.
