Haiti earthquake – update from JT Elmera:

“In our plan to address the needs of our brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake of August 14, the urgent need of this region has compelled us to step out one more time to reach out to the those who have been left homeless, and those in despair.  We hear a lot of donations are being given to the government and other NGO’s but nobody is providing help to our people.

“Our multidisciplinary team was received with a warm welcome in the village of Citron.  We were happy to give help to around 300 people from 6 different six churches, who we supplied with tarps, food, hygiene kits, walkers, tents, money, etc.  Our nurses and doctors treated illnesses like skin rash, infections, stomach problems, blood pressure, and many serious injuries.

“Our focus is to ‘seek the kingdom first’ in serving our brothers and sisters.  In that regard we sent relief to 7 churches in the Les Cayes area.  We are being bombarded  with – legitimate – requests from several communities like Camperin, Chantal, and Cahot, where a dozen churches are begging us to make our way to them.  We will definitely set a visit to these new areas this week.

“We want to express our gratitude for your prayers, fasting, and financial contributions to empower us to bring hope to these brethren in despair.  Please continue to pray and envision a bright future for the Churches of Christ in the southern peninsula.”
