The Week in Pictures – Nov 2023

The two newest – and youngest – additions at the St Michel Orphanage (our orphanage in Haiti that we are the sole supporters of):

A few girls getting ready for class to start on Monday morning at the St Michel Primary School (which is operated by the church we work closely with in St Michel):

Danny Vaden and Jim & Carol Hopkins teaching classes for a group of first-year preaching students at the Center for Biblical Training in Cap Haitien:

Friday in St Michel – Danny leading a seminar for about 3 dozen preachers and church leaders who had traveled as much as 2 hours to come hear him speak:

Jim and Danny speaking at a church we visited about an hour outside of St Michel, along with our old friend and favorite Haitian translator Fefe Wilson:

Tons of little kids at this church – the sea of little faces looking up at us:

(as an aside – everywhere we went in Haiti, the children’s reaction to Danny was quite hysterical – I’m quite certain none of them have ever seen a 6’4” white dude before 😊)

Jim and Danny speaking at another little church on the outskirts of St Michel:

A couple young mothers on the front row (I got tickled by how the little girl seems to be staring intently at the little boy):

Carol leading a women’s seminar in St Michel (this is where the Mayor hugged Carol afterward and told her she loved her – a beautiful and poignant moment, hopefully you read my story about that in my previous post!):

Was SO excited to see this, didn’t even know it’d been done – a new hand-painted sign on the wall of the St Michel Orphanage!:

Another of my favorite photos of the week – Carol doing a craft with the children at the orphanage – the way the one little girl is looking up at Carol just took my breath away:

Jim helping out with the craft-making also:

Carol teaching a Bible lesson to the children at the orphanage:

Danny preaching in St Michel Sunday morning…

…and Jim preaching on Sunday night:

Jim and Danny sharing a message with a group of Christians in the village of Dondon:

Jim and Carol teaching in the village of Birel, a tiny remote village about a 2 hour drive from where we stay in Cap Haitian (for those of you who remember this story, Birel is the place we prayed for rain on last April’s trip):

Birel is one of the poorest villages we’ve been to, and one of the places we did food distribution on this trip – this woman was one of the many folks from the village who came out to meet with us for almost 3 hours in the heat while we shared some simple Bible lessons – as always, HUGE THANKS to all of you who helped with the funding for our food distribution efforts:

As always, the four of us are overwhelming thankful for all of your prayers, for all your love and encouragement, and for all the many ways you support our efforts to minister to the Haitian people.
