Famine in Haiti

Famine in Haiti

For those of you unaware, Haiti is currently experiencing the worst famine conditions in decades.

According to an April 25th statement from the United Nations, “The ongoing crisis in Haiti is having a massive and devastating impact, with almost 5 million Haitians suffering from severe levels of hunger, and approx. 1.64 million facing emergency levels of acute food insecurity.  Children are particularly affected, with an alarming 19% increase in the number of children suffering from severe, acute malnutrition so far in 2024.”

My friend Luckson Previl, who grew up in a Haitian orphanage and now directs See Him Ministries in Cap Haitien, told me that the hunger is the worst he’s ever seen in his lifetime, especially in the remote villages our Haiti Fund teams have been working with for the past 3 years.

Thanks to the many of you who’ve contributed to our Disaster Relief and Crisis fund, and thanks to our dear friend Sonel Dorsainvil in the village of Dumas for all his hard work, we’ve been able to start distributing some basic food staples to our Christian brothers and sisters in some of the poorest areas hit hardest by the current famine conditions.  To be honest it’s just a “drop in the bucket” compared to the real need, but we’re determined to do whatever we can to help out.

HUGE thanks again to all of you for your love, your prayers, your encouragement, and for all the different ways you support our efforts to minister to the Haitian people.
