PREACHER TRAINING: Establishment of Delmas Christian University, housed in the Delmas 28 Church of Christ in Port-au-Prince. DCU is now fully accredited by the Haitian Ministry of Education to grant four-year baccalaureate degrees in Ministry, Theology, and Biblical Studies. We have already graduated a total of 87 students, and have 50+ students currently enrolled.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Construction of a new school building for a church-based elementary school in the village of St. Michel, a remote area way up in the mountains of northwestern Haiti. This school is a ministry of the St. Michel Church of Christ, and now serves approximately 400 children, kindergarten through 6th grade.
SAFE WATER: Drilling of wells in Bout Savanne and Birel, two remote villages where many people had been dying due to lack of a safe water supply. The Bout Savane well was drilled on the property where a new Church of Christ was established in 2014.
ORPHAN CARE: Purchase of land and construction of new housing faciliies for a newly established orphanage in the village of St. Michel (see “Christian Education” section above). This orphanage was started in early 2015 by the minister of the St. Michel Church of Christ and his wife, who saw a tremendous need in their community and began feeding, housing, and caring for 36 orphaned children – doing so initially with no outside support or assistance.
DISASTER RELIEF: Working through the Churches of Christ in Haiti to reconstruct dozens of churches and school buildings that were damaged or destroyed by various natural disasters, including Hurricane Matthew in October 2016; the 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Haiti in October 2018; the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti’s southern peninsula in August 2021; and various other earthquakes, hurricanes, and tropical storms.
