Volunteers Still Urgently Needed In Louisiana

Volunteers are still urgently needed in Louisiana to assist with Hurricane Laura recovery efforts at the Enterprise Blvd Church of Christ in Lake Charles.

I’ve included below some photos I took last weekend – as of right now the folks in Lake Charles are on day 15 with no electricity.

For information on volunteer opportunities go to www.churchesofchristdrt.org, the website for the Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team. This is the organization we typically partner with for disaster relief efforts here in the U.S.

What’s left of a house next to the church building.
Guy who lives next to the church building – this is all that’s left of his truck.
This was after we got the tree cut off it.
At the home of one of the members of the Enterprise Church of Christ in Lake Charles – what’s left of their truck.
A neighbor’s house, barely visible – completely mangled, speared through by multiple trees.
Monster tree, base of the trunk was about 4 feet in diameter – took our 8 person team almost 2 hours just to clear the section that was blocking this lady’s driveway.
Travel trailer completely flipped on its side.
This is pretty much everywhere you look.
This is pretty representative of what we’re seeing everywhere in Lake Charles, and I’m told this goes for hundreds of square miles – last Sunday spent doing more tree removal, and gutting a house of an elderly woman from the church here – almost everything she had was either damaged or destroyed by the hurricane.
