As some of you have already heard, our dear friend JT passed away yesterday morning. He had been in NJ with his family for the past couple months or so, seeking medical treatment and struggling with failing health. I last spoke with him about a week ago and he said he hoped to return to Haiti by end of September, but I had a bad feeling at the time based on what he was telling me about his health situation.
One of JT’s sons reached out to me this morning and said that no funeral arrangements have been made as of yet – I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything.
Please be praying for JT’s family, for the church family at Delmas, and for all the Christians in Haiti who are mourning this great loss.
Please also be praying for the elders at the Delmas church, and especially for Emmanuel Mytil, the young minister who JT has been training and mentoring for the past few years to take his place when this time came. Mytil also reached out to me this morning, saying, “We are very sad at this moment…it is very difficult for us.”
And finally, please be praying for all the Christians in Haiti – circumstances right now are as difficult as they’ve ever been for all our brothers and sisters there, and JT was such a huge presence throughout the country – his passion, leadership, and influence will be immensely missed.
JT and I have been discussing “contingency plans” for this moment for some time now, and our work with the preaching school and the St. Michel orphanage will continue uninterrupted. Rolin had also reached out to me this morning, wondering if I’d heard the news already.
For those of you who knew JT personally…I don’t even have words for everything I’m feeling right now, but I know that you’ll be feeling it along with me.
